  • Larger than default -r parameter when adding a drive, redo old -r and -s parameters?

I previously consolidated two smaller drives to a single 400 gb drive using the default parameters for mfsrestore of -s 127 -r 4. Now I am adding a 300 gb drive. I see that once again there is a default value of -r 4 for mfsadd in the Tivo upgrade guide.

Is there an advantage to using a larger number for -r for adding the 300 gb drive? Is there an advantage, and is there a way, to increase the -s and -r parameters for the existing 400 gb drive?

When I look at the documentation it appears that boosting those numbers to higher settings could be useful for a configuration with lots of space and very large drives.

127 is the largest you can safely use for the swap size with the standard tools. There's no help increasing the block size. 4 and 127 are the best numbers to use.
    Been here a long time . . .
