When I boot the screens fly past so fast I can't verify that my drives are correct. My configuration is:
hda - Primary Master (dos/windows fat32 C: Windows98SE Boot)
hdb - Primary Slave (New 250 Gig hard drive)
hdc - Secondary Master (Old Tivo R10 Hard drive)
hdd - Secondary Slave (CD-ROM boot CD drive)
The upgrade instruction keep refering to if a drive is "Locked", I need to know how to access each drive & verify it's capacity.
I'm doing a Tivo R10 Series 2 80 Gig to 250 Gig upgrade (Single drive)
I'll just store the old 80 in case I need it in the future.
The 250 Gig drive is new & has NOT been formatted under windows or any disk utility.
Every time I start the process, I NEVER get any error messages but when the instructions ask me to install the drive in my Tivo & test it, I get a Grey screen after the orange wait screen....nothing more ever. No matter what the jumper settings.
My Commands issued so far...
mkdir /mnt/dos
mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/dos
mfsbackup -f 9999 -6so /mnt/dos/tivo.bak /dev/hdc /dev/hdb
Scanning source drive. Please wait a moment.
Source drive size is 78 hours
Backup image will be 78 hours
Uncompressed backup size: 931 megabytes
Backing up 931 of 931 megabytes (100.00%)
Backup done!
dd if=/dev/hdc of=/dev/hdb bs=1024k
76319+1 records in
76319+1 records out
I then tested the drive in the Tivo & get the grey screen.
When I boot to windows 98se, drive C is the only drive (except for CD-ROM drive) that shows up.
I also has a loose file in the root directory called "TIVO.BAK" The origional 80 gig drive was jumpered "CS"
so I tried jumpering the new drive "CS" (cable select), when that failed, I tried Master (with jumper) and Master
without the jumper. Still no dice.
Thanks in advance!!
