    Upgrade Hard Drive Using Windows 7 PC

    Are there any specific issues to be aware of if you plan to use a Windows 7 PC to perform a hard drive upgrade? On the interactive upgrade instructions page, I see there is one potential issue if using Windows 2000 or XP (e.g., "Booting into Windows 2000 or XP with a TiVo drive connected to your PC will overwrite key information on the TiVo drive. The TiVo drive then won't work in a TiVo."). Does this caution apply to Windows 7?

    I plan to replace the original drive in 540040 with a larger capacity drive.

    That applies to Windows, but the instructions there don't use Windows. The PC should work, but you just won't boot off the Windows drive.

      So, it appears the same warning applies to Vista/Windows 7, i.e., you should be careful about booting into either of these two operating systems with the Tivo drive attached since this would render the Tivo drive unbootable. Is that a correct statement?

        Yes - only boot into Linux with a TiVo drive.
