  • DSR7000 upgrade hard drive help!!

My tivo is dying so I decided to change the hard drive to see if I can revive it. I followed the guide and I use the following setting and used the boot cd:

    Primary Master: DVD drive
    Primary Slave: OS drive

    Secondary Master: Tivo Drive/ Maxtor
    Second Slave: Free FAT32 drive

All the druive are3 detected with correct drive space.

I used the interactive guide ans it told me to mount the Fat drive and then issue the backup command on the tivo drive but when I type in:

    mount /dev/hdZ1/ mnt

But it gave me the error

Mount Special Device /dev/hdZ1/ does not exist

    and when I try mount /dev/hdd1 /mnt

    it gave me the error

Path prefix is not a directory. I have no idea on how to proceed.

You first have to mkdir /mnt.
Then you have to mount /dev/hdd1 /mnt

During the backing up step, there was some error saying the part of the original tivo drive is unreadable back the backup process completed. Could there be a problem?

Yup - it sounds like there's corruption on your boot drive, so copying that OS is causing an issue.

Try it, though. You may get lucky.
        Been here a long time . . .
