  • Humax Series 2 T800

I own a Series 2 Humax T800 with 1 drive. I have not opened it yet.

I acquired (dumpster dove) a DirectTV HDDVR HR10-250 that works perfectly. All recordings are in SD.

I would like to take the drive from the HR10-250 and add it to my Humax T800.
    a. Can I do it?
    b. What hardware might I need?
    c. Which instructions would I follow?

Of course, I want you to tell me that I just pop it out (with or without clearing all the programs on it) and my Humax will figure it out... Fat chance, huh?

Also, I have a Phillips Series 1 HDR 31203 that is WK set up for 2 drives but only has one in it at this time.

I could use it, but it is in a guest bedroom and not used as much. I guess I would like to know the feasiblity on that one as well, since I have a friend with the same HR10-250 that has been sitting around since his 1 year contract expired. I could probably get that drive cheaply.

---Or, should I just reformat the drive(s) and use them in my computers?

I have been perusing the forums and think I know the answers to the above...

The HR10-250 has a SATA drive, doesn't it?

That throws a wrench into the works.

I just want to quickly expand my capacity for the Olympics. (no procrastination here, if that is what you are thinking. )

How about networking the HR10-250? Can I do that without a subscription for that machine?

    Any other workaround ideas?
