  • trouble with mfstools backup

I'm trying to upgrade my hdvr2 from its original 40gb hard drive plus a weaknees 160 gb hard drive into a single 500 gb hard drive. I'm using mfstools. I booted from the cd and was able to see that my computer's c drive, the two tivo drives and the cd drive all showed up. Then when I went to backup, it started the process, showed that the original capacity was 40 hours and said the expanded capacity was 196 hours. It started the backup and got to about 10% before I got a message saying something like "backup failed" and "success". Which is it, a failure or success? What should I type to see if it worked? Is there a way to remove partitions and start over? Ideally, I'd like to preserve the recordings and copy them onto my 500gb drive.

Also, where are these files located on my c drive? Is it possible to find them using windows xp?

    THanks for helping a newbie.

If you're only getting to 10%, you likely aren't getting a backup.

You also can't go from two drives to one that's larger and get the extra space if you are preserving the recordings. So you either lose the recordings or you get a max of 200 GB of space used.

The file should be in the root level of your C drive.

Does your unit currently boot and work?
    Been here a long time . . .
