  • mfsbackup: Backup failed to startup.

Going from original (hda) one drive to a larger (hdb) one drive on an SVR-2000.

I think I messed it up the first time I tried. I mounted hda (original) and backed it up to hda.

I have my backup drive setup as fat32. hdb
    I mount it. mount /dev/hdb1 /mnt
    Then I run backup. mfsbackup -f 9999 -1so /mnt/backup.bak /dev/hda
    I get. /dev/hda10: Success
    mfs_load_volume_header: mfsvol_read_data: Input/output error
mfsbackup: Backup failed to startup. Make sure you specified the right devices, and that the drives are not locked.

    Am I doomed?

    Please help.

Could the drive be locked? What size does it report on boot?
    Been here a long time . . .

      Thanks for the help.

I did see that it was only listed as 10gb. So after unlocking it it shows the full 30gb but still the same error.

      Anything else.

        Likely it was 10 MB.

But now I'm out of good ideas. Maybe just reboot and give it another shot?

You may have a bad drive.
