I just purchased an upgrade for my sd-dvr40 which contained a 160 gb drive to increase my capacity to 140 hours(approx.). I also have a sd-dvr80 which I would also like to expand. I was thinking of purchasing a 500 gb drive, imaging the upgrade drive using TrueImage and restoring it to th 500. Will this work, or do I have to use a 160 gb drive for this purpose? Will I see the entire 500 gb on the new drive or is there something else I need to do?

We have never used TrueImage, nor are we familiar with it, so we have no idea if it will work, but we doubt it. You should use the Hinsdale instructions or these:

The unit can see all of the 500 GB drive if formatted properly.Been here a long time . . .
