    I bought your 500gb HD Upgrade Kit for Phillips DSR704 Tivo. We were having the lockup problem which the new HD fixed it.

    After .. Activating the DVR Service .. and we have done it many times with no success .. no recording .. we still get the message below ..

    "DirecTV DIRECT Tivo Service Message" ..

    "Please activate your DVR service" ..

    Your service is not currently active. To activate, please call DIRECTV Customer Support at 800-DIRECTV. To connect to thye DVR service, go to DIRECTV Central and select "Messages & Settings">"Settings">"Phone & Network" >"Connect to the DVR Service now".

    Press SELECT to continue ..

    I moved this to a new thread since it was unrelated to that other issue.

    Your unit needs to make its initial phone calls to DirecTV now that you've installed the new drive. Basically, you need to do exactly what that message says to get the recording portion activated.
    Been here a long time . . .
