Adding external backup to existing external drive

Sorry if this is a many-times-repeat question:

I own a two-year-old TiVo HD XL with a 2TB external drive (really a striped pair of 1GB drives I believe) attached. It's making some kinda loud clicks which isn't so good. I wonder whether I can now buy another Weaknees external drive of the same capacity and have that backup the primary external drive? How straightforward would this be?

We'd have to do the data copy here - there's no utility in the TiVo to force the copy.

Been here a long time . . .
