  • Upgrading a Series 2 with another TiVo HD

I have a Series 2 TCD140060 with a stock 60 G drive. I want to upgrade the drive on the cheap. I was given a Series 1 Philips HDR312 that has been upgraded to 100 hours; I also was given a Series 2 DT with a stock 80 G HD.

My Series 2 has a lifetime sub; neither of the gifted TiVos have subs.

I would like to take one of the larger drives from the gifted TiVos and add it to my lifetime TiVo.

Can I just add the second drive like adding a second drive to a PC? Or do I need to do something first to the second drive?

My desire is to keep the programs and settings intact on my lifetime TiVo. Also, my Linux knowledge is none existent.

    Thanks for any assistance!

You can add a drive, but you do have to prepare it. Full info is here:

So that fact that have a single TiVo formatted drive to install doesn't help me?

I need to make the drive TiVo-ready again?

Right - the formatting you have is for a single A drive, not for a B drive.
