I just received my weaknees kit today, to replace a dead drive in a Series3.

When I turn on my TiVo all four lights (2 x red, 1 blue, 1 amber) come on and I see the "Welcome! Powering up..." screen. After a minute or so this is replaced by a blank white (maybe very pale grey) screen. All four lights remain on. I've let it sit there for half an hour, but it just stays like that. Pressing the front panel buttons or remote buttons gets no response.

I took everything apart again to make sure I'd installed the drive correctly. Same result.

I put the old drive back in, and confirmed that it is indeed dead (fails kickstart 54 with "fail 7").

Put the new drive back in again. Still just four lights and a white screen.

I've also tried removing the cable cards and using different cables (HDMI, component, plain old video). Didn't make any difference.
