Move 2 drives from one TiVo to another?

My newer TiVo (TCD649080) died in a thunderstorm, I think because of power supply. It just has a dim red light on the front, nothing else happens.

At any rate, I have an older TCD540080 with lifetime, so I'd like to move drives from the dead unit to the other.

Dead unit has an 80 gb and a Weaknees addon, 180gb.

Can I move one or both drives to the working unit?

Can I save the programming from the dead unit?

To get the programming, you'd need to fix the 649 unit. We have power supplies for that here:

To move the drives, you'd need to reformat them with the 540 operating system. We can do that here:
