  • SWM Malfunction

    Hi,
    I added a SWM8 to my DirecTV system six weeks ago. The SWM8 supplies a HR23 and HR24 and everything has been working well for six weeks. Two weeks ago the SWM8 began to make a loud high-pitched whine that required my removing power to correct. Last night, the same noise occurred and both of my SWM connected receivers failed to record shows due to a poor signal error. They also could not communicate with each other. Both of these problems resolved after powering down the SWM 8 and restarting it. I do not see similar reports of this problem on the forum. Is my SWM8 defective and should I exchange it while it is still under warrantee?

    Note: every piece of my DirecTV equipment is protected by UPS and are properly grounded.

    SWM units should not be making high-pitched noises. I'd suggest you get it (and/or the power supply) replaced.
