I had a massive failure, believed caused by a power surge on the power supply that blew the SWM-E2.
Changing power supply did not work. Change the SWM-E2 did work (with new power supply). It did not work with old power supply and new SWM-E2.
I replaced power, the E2 and 1 SWM 8 (just for the heck of it). I had the one of two I removed at a local dealer and it showed fine, so it's assumed both SWM8's are good and I have saved the old one.
My Super Buddy meter, however, shows a bouncing signal strength after the 8-way splitter of -33db to -47 db (it flashes). Also, no IRD is present. However, these units are all working (2 D12 and 3 HR22 DVR's).
I do not know what the IRD really means either.
My business has 5 separate satellite dishes using SWM8's the last 2 years so I am very familiar, having been present on all installs and then working them the past 2 years. This is the first problem I have had with the SWM's.
Is this something to worry about? The other SWM8 in this SWM-E2 onfiguration shows normal strength of -40 db or so and an IRD of 80 or higher.
