  • SWM 8 and Basic Cable (channels 2-22, 54 MHZ to 169.25 MHZ

    Hi there,

New to posting, have questions about cable working with the SWM and MRV. There seem to be a few conflicting points of view in several posts.

    Here is the setup:

    New slimline dish
    4 wires to SWM-8
    One 8 way splitter
    2 HR24 (each with 1 wire)
4 H24 (each with one wire)

My question is really 3 questions:

    1) Can I run the cable into the SWM 8 terrestrial port and diplex it back out at each receiver with your SWM specific diplexer.

    2) Will this affect the Whole Home / Shared DVR / MRV (whatever you want to call it) operation in any way?

    3) If the answers to 1 and 2 are yes and no, respectively, where do the cable channels actually show up?

    Thanks!

    1) yes, this can be done.
    2) yes, it will destroy MRV. you can't have both.
    3) cable is just passed through. they don't show up on your DVR; you have to plug the diplexed cable signal into a cable box or cable-ready TV.
