  • SWM switch set up questions

DirecTV came and installed a new Slimline dish last night. Signal strength was in upper 90's - 100. I installed my SWM switch with OTA antenna (with amplifier). I'm runing two H20-100 receivers. I ran the one line from SWM1 to the first receiver with the power inserter behind that set. Ran to the IRD through the new diplexer and removed the B-band converter. I turned on the receiver and got no picture. I went into set up and looked at the signal strength meters and was getting mostly 0. For example on Sat 101 the first row was 96 0 0 0 0 0 0 97. I unplugged the antenna amplifier. I disconnected the OTA cable from the SWM but was still not getting all the transponders to register. I remember something somewhere about changing the setting on the dish to 5lnb, SWM. Is there something in the set up that I have to change? Thanks guys.

The DirecTV installation guide, posted here, says "Perform a Red button reset after connecting signal to IRD in order for it to configure to the new settings". "Do NOTuse "autodetect", manually select dish configuration". Will it ask during a red button reset if you want to configure the dish or will it detect the SWM by itself? I'm thinking I just didn't wait long enough to let it go through all the configuration routines. I didn't want to go into reset dish because I wasn't sure what I needed to select. Thoughts? And thanks.

Autodetect is pretty good now - it'll probably be fine. But it should ask if you want to use that or do it manually, which takes about 15 seconds.
        Been here a long time . . .

          Guys,
I reconnected everything again. When I did the red button reset it went to a screen saying DirecTV HD and "receiving satellite info" but shows o% complete. When I hit Menu I get to setup but it only gives me the signal strength meters. Still showing mostly 0's with an occasional high 90 reading. Not sure how to get it to do anything more? I'm stuck.

Okay, Okay, from my days watching Kung Fu, patience Grasshopper. It did finally register and got me to the regular set up. I was able to hit setup satellite and confirm that it was on 5lnb and switch was SWM. Got satellite and OTA as promised. Thanks guys.
