  • R16 with legacy dual output LNB

We have a (newer) legacy dual output Directv type LNB mounted on my mobile broadband satellite boom on our motorhome's roof. One output feeds a Directv D12 receiver in the living room. The other output feeds a D12 in the bedroom. We only look at Sat 101, and it works great.

I would like to replace the D12 in the living room with an R16 SD DVR receiver, and be able to use the dual tuner configuration of the R16 to watch a channel and record another, or simultaneously record two channels.

From readings on this forum it appears the SWM8 input is not compatible with a single LNB output. Is there any way to accomplish what I want to do with the R16? Either using a single LNB output, or both outputs?

    Thanks.

im not sure if a single dual lnb will work ... but i dont see why not...the swm 8 switch has a 101 input ... i think it would only mean that you will only get the 1 sat location ... i have never tried it ... but in theory it should work

    the d 12 & r 16 are both compatible with swm ...

lets see what others have to say about it...... if not the thing to do would be to get the swm dish... or just run another line to the r 16 & put a 3 x 4 switch in line ....

      This should work.

Thank you both for responding. Based on ebmsjml's last statement, would the Zinwell SAM-3402, 3x4 Multi-Switch do the job? One LNB output connected to the 18 volt SAT port and the other LNB output connected to the 13 volt SAT port?

If so, is the SAM-3402 weather proof?

        Thanks again.

That should work in that configuration, and yes, it's weatherproof (although probably weather-resistant is a better claim).
          Been here a long time . . .
