  • SWM-8 Died?

Last Saturday I installed a SWM-8 and an 8-way splitter (replacing my 6x8 multiswitch). All was well until last night. All of my receivers (3 HR20 and 1 H20) went dark. Signal strength on all satellites, including SWM, went to 0 signal.
    • I did a Red button reset of the recievers with no change.
    • I cycled power on the SWM power inserter and then did a RBR with no change.
    • I pulled the SWM output from the splitter and connected directly to a single receiver with no change.
    • I pulled the SWM out of the loop and put on a BBC and connected a receiver directly to the grounding block and then got signal.

So I've put the original 6x8 back in and am operating as I was prior to Saturday.

    Bad SWM-8?

We've basically never seen one die, but this could be the first.

You should try powering everything down, and then powering up only the SWM. Then, power up just one receiver and see if it gets signal. You may have to press the red button now that the units aren't looking for a SWM signal again.
    Been here a long time . . .

I didn't disconnect all the cables but I did do just that...powered off all 4 receivers...powered off the power inserter for the swm...powered the power inserter back in and made sure the green light came back on...then powered up our main receiver and it was never able to find a signal...I did a RBR with no change...and finally selected the option to change satellite setup to verify it still showed the SWM setup.

OK...I tried one more time...verified the connection. Ive bypassed the 8 way splitter and have a single line (to receiver) plugged into port 1 on the SWM and still no satellite signal...really looks dead to me...

OK - we've emailed you instructions on how to send it in for a check.
