Problem- I have installed SWM multiswitch with a splitter to get to rooms. I have a room that the cable is in insullated wall that I need to run satellite cable to. I don't want to cut the cable line and just hook to my splitter in case we sell the house and they want cable instead of satellite. My question is can I use a diplexer in this way-put my current cable line and satellite input into the diplexer and leave my current cable in the wall to use with my satellite? I am going to turn off my cable service so that the cable won't be trying to send both signals down it at the same time. Is this possible and will it work?

I'm sorry, but I really don't understand what you want to do. But if you won't be using cable service, why would you need to diplex anything?Been here a long time . . . -
Wanted to keep the existing cable in that room instead of cutting it in the attic in case we move and the new homeowners want cable instead of satellite.Comment

I am not going to use the off-air input on multiswitch. Will a diplexer work without using that input?Comment

Yes I will have to cut it but I want to make it easy for the next homeowner. Basically I am asking if I can use the diplexer to simply pass through my satellite signal.Comment

Yes, you can if you really want to, but my point is, if there's no live cable feed on the line, just use it, don't bother to diplex.Been here a long time . . .Comment

If I do go this route, do I need to diplex again at the receiver in that room? I know this idea sounds pointless but cutting the cable in the area I would have to will make it a headache for the next homeowner. Thanks for all help.Comment
