  • new swm-8 install

I've researched quite a bit but need to confirm before I purchase.

    I have 2 H20 Receivers and 1 HR20-100S DVR installed with a 5 LNB slimline antenna. It's been working for 4 years.

Just recently completed the basement and ran 1 coax to the Structured Wiring center for a new DIRECTV box addition. Oops, should have run two cables for a new DVR? Too late, everything is closed in already.

Now I've read the SWM-8 can do the job with a single cable to the DVRs.

My question, can I add the SWM-8, power insertion unit and splitter without messing with the antenna which has 4 cables coming down from it into the Structured wiring box? My concern is: Isn't there a multiswitch in this antennna already and does it compromise the SWM-8 install in any way?

I would mount the SWM-8 and power insertion at the structured wiring box, appx. 60' away from the antenna if this would work.

I'd rather not have to change out the LNB and realign if I don't have to.

Thanks for any advice and support.

What you want to do will work, and that's actually how it's intended to work.

The SWM8, working with the 5LNB dish, needs those exact four lines that you're describing. Technically, yes, there is a multiswitch in the dish LNB, but that's just how it gets the signals to the four outputs.

You should have no problem with that configuration at all.
    Been here a long time . . .
