Recently I replaced my Zinwell with a SWM8--mainly because I had a need to put a receiver in a bedroom and didn't want to spend attic time (FL and the summer = 140+F up there). The set up went great!
I also have lifeline CATV (don't ask, Comcrap internet is cheaper that way), AND some security video cameras.
On Channels 65 and 73 I have security Cameras, on 67 and 71 I have 2 SD DVRs. The RF modulator outputs went into a Channel vision amp/distribution unit and then out to the rooms via single RG6. Satellite was done normally--2 wires to the living room. The SD DVRs are in the same closet as the Multiswitch, so no problem with wiring.
What I would LIKE to do is simple in concept, harder in reality. My end goal is: Diplex the RF Modulator (chns 65,67,71,73) with the CATV signal, run it into the SWM8 OTA, then using a diplexer on the OTHER end, running one wire into the DVR as usual, and run the other cable into the RF IN on the TV OR into the ANT IN on the DVR, which ever would work (I'm thinking TV). ideally, the TV would be able to not only tune whatever analog channels there are (RF Mod + any CATV channels) but also decode any QAM signals coming down.
I have 2 notch filters that will block channels 64-69, and 70-74. My thinking is pretty simple...
CATV > NOTCH FILTERs > Diplexer > SWM8
^
RF Output ........................^
Then on the other end, standard diplexer config.
Question: yes/no maybe?? Too much trying to combine the RF out and CATV? Worst case is that I dump the cable, and keep the RF Mods and set up an a/b switch or something like that.
Many thanks in advance!
