SWM Firmware

Can you tell me what is inside a SWM that requires firmware?

I see in the info setup, there is a Firmware and Library version reported.

Why?

Most likely for diagnostic purposes. There has never been any user-update for the SWM.

Different types of SWM's have different versions. The 3 LNB/SWM has a version of 2.x.x and the SWM 5 and 8 both have a version of 1.x.x. Firmware usually indicates some type of setup is needed when this hardware gets powered up.

Has anybody ever opened one up to see what is in there as far as what hardware is actually in them?
