  • Does the connection order matter for the wires from the dish?

I have tried all 24 combinations and the satalite setup screen gives me a different pattern of X's and Checks for each one, but none of them seem to work.

The wiring diagram seems simple, but I must not have somthing configured correctly.

4-wires from dish to SWM-8 (Does order matter?)
    1-wire from SWM/PWR on SWM-8 to SWM
1-wire from SWM on SWM Multi-Switch
1-wire from IRD on SWM Multi-Switch to HR20-700 Satalite In #1
    No B-Ban Converter
No wire into Satalite In #2

Select Slimline LNB5 as dish type
(How do I know if this right, or if it is Slimline (SWM)?

    Select SWM as Switch Type
(This is not a choice, it auto selects this for me)

Test screen shows some combinations of Satalite and 18v vs. 13v working and some combinations of 18v vs. 13v not working.

It always says there were errors on both receivers and that I should check my configuration and re-test.

I change the order of the wires from the dish to the SWM-8 and retest and usually get a different combination of things that work and don't work, but never get them all checked.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

    Bill.

    It is fixed...

A new day (actually it is the same day, but I have slept) and now it is working.

There was one of two problems and I am not going to go back any time soon to figure out which one it was.

The run from the SWM-8 to the dish was probably > 40 ft.

One of the cables that I thought was from the dish may not have been.

Thank you to everyone who read this, with the hope you could help me.

    Bill.

Glad you got it fixed. You lost me here:

      1-wire from SWM/PWR on SWM-8 to SWM
      Been here a long time . . .

        Same problem

I have a similar problem. See photos in link below.
I have to assume I have a bad cable.
Could this be why I do not get all the HD channels?

        Thanks
        Tom

It could be any number of issues. Your signal strength isn't all that high, either. Are you sure that your dish is aligned properly? If you connect a cable from the dish without the SWM, do you get all transponders on all sats?

Changing/swapping out cables will have to wait till this weekend.
Or I just might schedule some one to come out and check my alignment.

              Up date

I had the dish re-aligned on Friday. Every thing works now.
