  • SWM 14 tuner newbie question

I currently have a 5 LNB Directv dish running into my attic and connected to a 6 X 8 multiswitch. Direct runs from the multiswitch go to two tuners on a HR-20, two tuners on another HR 20, two tuners on a R-16, and one tuner each on two additional R-15's maxing out the current configuration. The house was pre-wired so there are two rooms that I cannot get multiple wires to. I would obviously like to activate the additional tuners on the two R-15's and add an additional HR21 and a HR10-250. That would be 14 tuners and would require a 2 SWM package. My question is how many splitters would I need and which ones would be the best? The two R-15's and the HR10-250 require two cables apiece (6 in total). Would they attach through the splitters or legacy ports? I am having trouble thinking through the design of the system even after looking at the wiring diagrams.

    Thanks!

OK - the R15s and the HR10 will require two cables per unit, hooked up to legacy ports. You have six legacy ports on two units, so you'll use them all. You need direct runs here - no splitters can work with legacy ports.

For the remaining 8 tuner, you can go a few different ways, but the easiest is to run one cable from each SWM port (four total) to each unit. You don't need splitters on the unit - the units split the SWM signal internally.
    Been here a long time . . .
