  • DirecTV with up to 8 DVRs

I have a residential installation as follows:

    Bldg 1.
    - Dish is located at this building.
    - The multi-switch will be approx. 50' from the dish.
    - Up to 4 TVs. Each may be connected to a DVR

    Bldg 2.
    - Approx 150'-200' from Bldg 1 (using the same dish)
    - Up to 4 TVs. Each may be connected to a DVR

    Question:
    - Can I do this with SWM?
    - What kind of hardware do I need (switchers, splitters, dish, etc.)
    - Pulling wire right now, need to know how many RG6 to run from Bldg 1 to Bldg 2.
    - Final install will be in 4-6 months.
    - Location in California, no sub-zero issues.

Yes, you can do it with SWM. You will want 4 cables from bldg 1 to bldg 2, and I'd recommend that you run RG11 if you can. Not a huge deal if you run RG6. You'll need additional equipment (polarity locker and possibly an amplifier). You'll also need a tap at building 1, You'll need a SWM in building 1 and one in building 2.

This sounds much like another SWM setup that I was designing for someone who emailed recenly..... if you want more help, you should feel free to contact us.
