I've got a Directv HD setup with a HD DVR and a plain old HD receiver in my home. The house has a structured wiring package but the runs are just single RG6 runs to various rooms. We were a little shocked when we had this installed 18 months or so ago when the installer insisted on running a run of double RG6 around he outside of our house and through the wall. There are at least 2 RG6 lines to a point outside the house and he did use one of these runs to for the upstairs HD receiver.
Now, from what I have been reading, the SWM8 does exactly what I want... that is, allow me to use the homes structured wiring and tear off the ugly wiring that was run outside. I've gone ahead and ordered the SWM8, power supply and the splitter. My plan had been to find a satellite installer to come and install this stuff for me... since the LNB only has 3 coax runs out of it and not 4. Made some calls this morning and only found one of the places with people in it. I tried to describe what I want and I tried to explain what the SWM-8 is... and it soon became clear the people I was talking to had no idea what I was talking about....
Ok, so my first question is, how do I find an installer who understands this stuff enough to install it? Can anyone recommend someone in the Phoenix area?
Secondly... I actually have to admit that I am an engineer... but I have no experience in this particular area and I've learned over the years that sometimes you are just better off finding someone who has the experience to do things right, instead of messing with it myself. If I do install it myself, is it really as easy as it looks?
