  • Power Inserter distance from SWM

Have been told that the PI cannot be mounted indoors adjacent to the SWM.
    Is this true?
    If so, why?
(It has worked without problems at distances as low as 1 foot in previous installs - racks and wall mounts.)

This is not true. There was an old diagram showing a minimum distance, but it is largely wrong. If you find that you have problems, then you can just put 15' or so of coax between the SWM and the inserter, but the physical distance is not an issue.

      SWM Powewr Inserter

At Cedia this week, I was told again by a Directv technical person that the power inserter must be separated from the SWM8 by 15 feet of RG6 coax, but that this requirement could be avoided by using the E-2 power supply with a DC power jack to dual F connector adapter PZA2.1F2 (in case one would want to support two SWM8s) into the legacy 3 port on the SWM. Is the 15 foot requirement real, and do you have the adapter for the E-2 power supply?

Yes, we have the E2 and the power supply.

The 15' is what DIRECTV claims is required, but we have heard otherwise from many other sources. If you don't have 15', just use 15' of coax.
