I recently moved into a new home and had a question about installation. There is no basement and there are 6 rooms with single RG6 drops. Those meet in the attic and there is one RG6 line that ends outside on the side of the house. I don't want to run any additional lines and I would like to end up with 2 HD DVR's and 1 HD box. How would this work with my current wiring? Thanks for your help.

You would run the 4 lines from the dish to the side of the house, where you'd mount the SWM. Then you'd use the existing cable to go into the attic, where you'd mount the power supply and the 1x8 splitter, and you'd connect the lnes from your receivers into the 1x8. -

It's pretty hot here in Texas. Can I have the power supply in one of the rooms after the splitter so it's not in the attic? I'm thinking this can happen as long as the splitter allows for power passing.Comment

Yes, you can do that. Use the power-passing leg of the splitter.Comment
