  • Which hard disk?

Hi. In January I purchased a 750GB External Hard Drive from this page: http://www.weaknees.com/tivo-dvr-hard-drive.php. It's the one for $449.

I have another 8300HD and want to buy another drive and was thinking about the 1000GB on this page: http://www.weaknees.com/maxtor-quick...pander-qvx.php

I see there's also a 750GB drive on this page for $299 which I might buy instead.

What is the difference between all these drives, specifically between the two 750GB drives? What are the advantages/disadvantages of each system? Why the big price difference?

    Thanks!

If you add the 750gb to the cart you'll find that its the same price. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Thanks. So the two 750gb drives are the same price, $299. One is a Seagate DB35 and the other a Maxtor QuickView, is that correct?

What I'm really interested in is: what are the differences between the two?

Since I already know what the DB35 drive is all about (that's the one I bought) I'd like to know what I'd be losing (or gaining) by getting the 1000gb drive, which is a Maxtor Quickview.

In other words, I'd like to get the higher capacity drive but before I do that, I need to understand the differences between the 2 types of drives you're selling (since I'm familiar with one type but not the other). If you had a DB35 drive with a 1000gb capacity, I'd buy that since I've had a good experience with my 750gb DB35. But the 1000gb drive is only available in the Maxtor Quickview series and it's unknown to me. Is it as quiet as the DB35, for example.

Anyway, did that all make sense? I did read all the pdf files but I'm still a little confused.

      Thanks again.

Maxtor never made 750 GB drives, so all of these are really Seagates, or, potentially, as time goes by, Western Digitals.

We don't have DB35 drives in 1 Terabyte - those are WD AV drives.

The WD is probably a shade quieter than the DB35s, but they're really both very, very quiet.
        Been here a long time . . .

Thanks for the reply. But if you don't mind indulging me a little further.

I'm still confused as to what the differences are between the two 750gb drives you offer? I didn't mean to confuse my question by wrongly identifying who makes what drive.

I'm just trying to determine which 750gb drive I should buy (and what their differences are), the one on this page http://www.weaknees.com/maxtor-quick...pander-qvx.php

or the one on this page http://www.weaknees.com/tivo-dvr-hard-drive.php

Those are identical - we just list that item in two places.
