  • Please Help, HD dvr problem

Originaly had 2LNB dish which fed a splitter in the garage which in turn fed 4 standard receivers and 1 standard DVR. Finished the basement and wanted HD so I called Directv and they cahnged the dish to 5LNB. The tech ran 2 wires directly to the HD DVR and 2 wires to the original splitter. Now comes the problem, I changed the standard DVR to HD yesterday and ran a second wire from the splitter to it but it does not receive any HD channels. Is there something that I am doing wrong? I think I know where this is going, a swm, but the wires running to the HD DVR in the basement can't be accessed after the enter the house. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It's just the wrong multiswitch. It's probably a 3x8, which doesn't support HD.

If you get a SWM, you can run two wires from the legacy port to your old switch, and then run one SWM wire to each HD DVR.

The 6x8 is compatible with a 5lnb dish:

Do all 4 wires need to feed it or can I get away with 2?

you need to run all 4 lines from the dish to it ... then distribute from there...

you will have a total of 8 lines out ...
