    HR22 with Weaknees External 1.5 TB drive

    I have an HR22, but I have not set it up or activated it yet. Just ordered the WK 1.5 TB external drive, and WK support suggested I wait until I get the big drive.

    If I'm not mistaken, the external drive effectively replaces the internal drive (any recorded programs on the internal drive are not available with the external drive attached).

    I'm wondering, does it make sense to disconnected the internal drive, to save wear and tear on it, while using the external drive, or does the HR22 need to boot from the internal drive?

    No. In most models, if you disconnect the internal, the unit won't work with an external.

      Playback pauses (short and long) and pixelation

      I've had the new setup with external drive running about 2 weeks now. When I playback recordings, every 5-10 minutes I get pauses, sometimes very short, only a second or two, while other times the pause is very long and I FF or 30 second skip.

      Most of the time the picture and sound just freezes. Sometimes the picture freezes and the sound with start and stop. Less often there is pixelation.

      I'm not sure how to troubleshoot if this is a problem with the HR22 or the external drive.

      TIA for advice.
