  • How To Connect a Single LNB To a DVR Plus Receiver

Greetings - I live in a apartment complex where each building has a single round 18 inch dish with a single LNB - I puchased a DVR Plus and was told that it could be connected with limitations - the problem is I can not even get it to see the dish - I have a standard receiver that works just fine but there is somthing I am missing - please assist if possible - thanx in advance...

Have you talked to DIRECTV or the apartment complex? It should work with just a single input, unless you have a stacked signal.

I have contacted the office personnel and asked them to have the DirecTV technician call me, as he is the one who stated a DVR Plus would work just fine - I have called four times in the las three days but no one is calling me back - I was hoping that someone could tell me if I need additional componants such as a diplexer - there are two satellite input ports of which #1 is connected - I have the dish type selected and a choice between SWM and Multiswitch - if I select SWM, my Satellite type becomes unavailable so I have selected the Multiswitch option - finally, I can choose between single or dual Tuners, I have tried all avilable options but the response is always, 'can't detect a signal'. I thought I'd spend another day or two and then send the DVR Plus back to DirecTV and look for anoth solution...

You do not need SWM equipment to use the DVR. You will only be able to choose ONE TUNER, so don't try choosing two.
