Impact to internal drive recordings when external drive is added?

What would happen to the recordings I have on my HR20 now if I added an external drive (say one of the 1 TB Western Digital AV External Drives you're running a special on)?

Would they be accessible if I were to unplug the external drive after using it?

In other words, can I go back to those recordings after I've used the external drive, or are they gone?

Yes, if you were to power down and unplug the external, you could power back up off the internal and see the older recordings.

Been here a long time . . .
