  • Hr20

I have an HR20 that died the other day. I came home and the Tivo was stuck on a picture from 3:50pm in the afternoon. There have been multiple thunder and lightning storms in the areas so I unplugged and rebooted. I am unsure if the harddrives booted up or the lights came on in the front but I thought they had. Nevertheless, I got nothing. No, lights on front, no hard drives booting up but the fan turned on. I checked out the Weakness website and concluded that it was the power supply. After replaced the power supply today... and it still won't boot up. Any ideas of what could be still wrong?

    Thanks

The HR20 is not a TiVo. What is your actual model number?

      My mistake.

      It is a HR 10.

Could the flat white ribbon cable that goes from the power supply to the motherboard be disconnected?
        Been here a long time . . .

If you are sure that the power supply is installed correctly, then it's likely that the thunderstorm took out more than just your power supply, unfortunately.

That is what I was afraid off. Because I know the hard drives are okay. Let me ask you this..

If I buy another Tivo.. can I use the hard drives in the new Tivo and the access card so I can keep the recordings. Or do I lose them too.

Unfortunately, the recordings can only be played back on the unit that recorded them.
