R15-500 upgrade?

Good morning all! :-)

Wanting to take a look at what would be the best upgrade path from R15-500... Having a SAT stream issue with the latest software upgrade and it looks like I may just replace the receiver and go a different route....

Coming from the Directv DVR world, I have had a LOT of good luck with this unit... The IDE drive is fine and will probably move the drive to a different unit..

What would be a good model to move to (standard definition) out of the R15? Being unfamiliar with the Tivo world, would there be any additional cost per month to go with a Tivo vs. Directv DVR?

The TiVo service for DirecTV TiVos costs the same per month as your current unit - they're both just under the umbrella of "DVR Service" for DirecTV.

But that drive won't work in a TiVo, at least not without reformatting.

Looks like the software updated on its own last night to 1169. I should be all set (or at least until the next software update push)... :-)

Will definitely keep this place in mind....
