To the best of our knowledge, there are no 250GB PATA drives in that form factor, only SATA. As for external drives, there seem to be some hacks out there, but they haven't proved to be stable enough and they don't survive upgrades.That's all there is to it! -
There is at least one 250GB 2.5" PATA drive out there:

Do it Myself?
I noticed the clear easy instructions showing how to install a larger hard drive in my Apple TV, but don't see the option of doing so... only send it in to have it done. It looks easy enough; is it an option?

Will you be offering a 320 GB upgrade? Western Digital makes the scorpio in a PATA interface in this capacity as well as the 250GB. I belive it is model WD3200BEVT.Comment

That's a SATA drive. The PATA drives generally end in BEVE. I don't know that there will ever be a larger PATA drive - the WD rep claims they aren't pursuing laptop PATAs beyond 250 GB.Been here a long time . . .Comment
