Everything was fine, TV was on. I left the room. I came back and the screen was blue and said "powering up.... just a few minutes more".. from there it would go to a grey screen with basically the same message but written in a less friendly (no TIVO guy) way and then back to the blue. The TIVO remote doesn't seem to have any effects on the TIVO unit at all right now. Pressing all sorts of butons, no responses at all. Called TIVO, they want $150 to trade it in. It's 4 years old and with a lifetime subscription.

Based on the symptoms you describe and knowing nothing else, I would guess that you need a new drive. -
