  • Help - I think my tivo is dead...

I read a bunch of the posts. I have a MAC so I cant download the diagnostic tools. I own a Pioneer 810 (with the DVD recorder) and right now - all my Tivo does is click. Nothing comes up on the screen. Just random clicks.
    Whats my next step???

    thanks...

Clicking could indicate a bad hard drive, but now picture on the screen - even the "Welcome" splash screen - could indicate a bad power supply. You might consider replacing both, but if I had to choose one I'd start with the power supply. Sadly, it's not the cheapest part to source:

    And the drives are here:

That's all there is to it!

Thanks Jason. This is helpful. I wonder how I can tell which one is the culprit? Is there a simple way?

You could try removing the hard drive and see whether the unit at least boots to the "Welcome" splash screen, an image that is generated on the motherboard. If it gets there and hangs, your power supply could be in okay shape you could start by replacing the drive.
