I'm new to the forum but I've been trying research what might be causing the pixelation problem that I've been having with my SD-DVR40. I have been having problems on one tuner and then switch over to the other tuner and everything is fine. I initially thought it must be something to do with the cables but then I was able to switch the cables around on the inputs and still the same problem. Your site recommended a harddrive when there are pixelation problems. I tried switching the harddrive today with a new 80gb harddrive. I did a copy because I wanted to retain my recordings. Upon bootup, my recordings were there but when I go to live tv, I am still getting pixelation. If I didn't do the complete copy, would this problem go away? Could I have "copied" the problem over? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Pixelation problems persist for me as well!
I've been reading these posts and have found out that the pixelation problems which I have been experiencing on my "Series 2 80 Hour" TiVo my not be the hard-drive at all!. I too have replaced my original 5 year old Western Digital HD with a new Seagate HD provided by Weakness last week!...I thought for sure that the kit would resolve my pixelation issues but to my dismay (...and $139.00 later) have the same intermittant digital pixelation issues. Does my TiVo have a tuner? or could it possibly be my Comcast-Motorola Digital cablebox causing erroneous recordings on my TiVo HD?? How can I test for pixelation on my cable system??

Yes, your Series 2 TiVo has a tuner, but only for analog signal. You should be able to plug your cable line in directly (assuming the TiVo has been told in guided set-up or video set-up where to look for signal). But if you want to look for pixellation on your Comcast box, try bypassing the TiVo altogether and going right to the TV with your signal.That's all there is to it!

Same Problems
I just replaced my hard drive with a new hard drive from weaknees as well in my fairly old Series 2 box. I continued to experience pixelation, but assumed it was my cable box. However, last month I disconnected the box and have been watching tv through the tivo directly since then. On live viewing, there are no problems. But, on playback of recorded shows (or delayed playback of a live show), I get pixelation about every 2 minutes. Frankly, it is unwatchable. Any suggestions on what I can do to repair, or is this box dead? Thanks!

Sounds like a bad tuner on the motherboard. We can repair that under this program:
