Total newb here...need some help please. My son bought a tivo mini from you guys and he is having trouble setting it up. It was activated through our tivo account and shows in the activated devices. When he ran the setup, however, it gets to the screen where it tells him it cannot connect to the DVR. We tried connecting DVR to tivo service and then trying the setup again, but it did not work. Is there something else we can try? His uncle is telling him it won't work with the DVR because we didn't get it through the cable company (Grande). Any input or things to try, let me know. update...Grande informed me I cannot use a retail mini tivo with their service...I guess I'll need to return this mini to you?

I do not know much about this stuff, so I am not sure I understand your question...sorry...It shows up on my TiVo account...it is plugged in to the same coax he used previously for cable, it connects to our internet just fine but gets to a point where it says no DVR found and I cannot get past this. Hope this helps?

Try asking TiVo to de-activate and re-activate the unit on your account.
Rebooted several times, a TiVo rep told me the following:
I just spoke to a supervisor regarding this issue. What is happening is your new retail Tivo mini has to connect to a retail device first in order to get through guided set up. It will then be about to talk to your other boxes and see recorded shows, but it will not be able to watch live tv.
Am I out of luck with this? (My dvr and one mini are from my cable co....the other is what I bought from you)
