I have a TIVO Series 2 TCD230040. About a week ago the Tivo began displaying the gray "Welcome. Powering up..." screen. After powering up there was no change and the hard drive was making unusual "clunking noises." So, I assumed the hard drive had crashed and burned and need replacing.
I went to the WeaKnees website, which I found on Google, and purchased a replacement drive. The instructions were easy to follow and I installed to new hard drive -- no problem. I made sure all the connections were firm and everything was in place.
However, there is no change in the TIVO. The gray "Welcome. Powering up..." screen remains stuck where it is. The new hard drive doesn't make the racket the old hard drive made, but that is the only difference. Should I just return the hard drive WeaKnees sent me? I have lifetime service on this unit and I don't want to lose that. What should I do?
