  • Disk replacement -> cable card lost programming??

I did a disk replacement in a Tivo Premier, although it was perhaps not strictly necessary. I was afraid either my internal + outboard disk might be getting ready to go bad, so I replaced the combo with a single higher capacity drive from Weaknees.

However, in bringing the system back up, it looks like the cable card programming or setup has been lost.

Rather than have a service call with the phone company, is there a file off the original internal disk that I could copy over? My thinking is that I attach the old internal disk to a linux computer; find the appropriate file; attach the new internal disk (after pulling it from the Tivo box); copy the file, put the disk back in the Tivo.

But is there in fact a single file I could copy over?

I don't know of any file to copy over. You could copy the entire OS - that preserves the CableCARD programming.

But, really, you should be able to re-authorize the card with a quick call to your cable company. Most of them get this these days and they can just ping out a signal.
    Been here a long time . . .
