Hello...I have a series 2 Sony SVR-3000. It has two drives - factory install maxtor 80GB ultra ata 100, and a 250 GB seagate that I got from Weaknees in December. (which has been awesome by the way!!)
Had a power failure last night and the maxtor makes the big CLUNK when i power on the tivo. It is stuck at the welcome. powering up. I recommend they rename it to "Welcome, you are screwed" after 1/2 hour passes. The Seagate is quiet, it does spin. I have tried everything (screwdriver hitting, calling a drive recovery company, praying, etc) and no luck.
Here is the question....I am going to buy a new replacement drive from Weaknees. Will my existing upgrade just work or do i need to have it formatted? Is there any possibility that my data is recoverable on the working 250GB drive?
