The easiest ever! New power supply, new hard drive, I'm so excited I might have to.... scream. Unbelievable TiVo team at weakness. Thanks Jeff and Michael.

One question though. Can I use my external harddrive with my upgrade? Just curious

Glad to hear it - thanks for the post!

In answer to your question, most externals will work as they did before the upgrade, and subject to the max capacity of the TiVo. What model is your TiVo and what model is the external?

      Well, sometimes time does tell.

Series 3 with a 500 GB W.D. originally purchased from TiVo. (to answer your inquiry), but the reboots plagues us again. Less frequently, my thinking is the capacitors on the mother board? Haven't opened her up yet. Might take another look tomorrow.

I'd guess it's the capacitors on the power supply, actually.

At first it was fine, then a week goes by and it reboots. I thought well let's give it some time, and reach day, she starts rebooting more. Since the power supply has been replaced, and the hard drive has been replaced, I'm afraid I'd the mother board.

If it's a TCD652160 or a TCD658000, then we can generally repair a rebooting motherboard. You'd start with this repair:
