  • TiVo HD - Replaced Hard drive, still having issues

I've had a TiVo HD for many years, and had issues around hard drives before and successfully installed new drives and fixed the problem.

That being said, let me explain my most recent problem:

In My TiVo HD, I have a 2TB drive. Been working fine for over 2 years. All of a sudden, it stopped responding. I decided to get a new 2TB HD, installed it, and I get the "Welcome Powering Up" message for about 10-15 seconds, and then the screen goes completely gray.

If I unplug and plug the TiVo, the same thing happens again.

    Advice?

Assuming the drive is from us (and therefore properly formatted) then I'd guess the problem is a bad power supply.

This one is not. I bought it off of Amazon. Is there a way I can format it myself?

        Not really, no.

We can format it for you:

But if it's not an AV drive, really you'd be better off just returning it to Amazon and buying a full kit from us.
