TiVo HD w/WD external - Live TV and rebooting issues

Symptoms:

Live TV will freeze. Changing to another channel and back will usually clear the issue

When it freezes, the picture is frozen but the time bar appears to be correct

Live TV will stutter and pixelate

Now, TiVo will reboot after a few minutes of playback

After reboot, sometimes hangs on "Powering Up". Requires power cycle

Today, it would not get far enough for me to Kickstart 54. Took a few power cycles.

Kickstart 54 hung at 50% done on primary. Both passed SMART

Does this sound like the primary needs to be replaced?

Yes, it sounds like the internal drive needs to be replaced at the least, and if you do that, you should really get a larger internal and just go to one drive and not re-use the external.
