lifetime tivo, can it use tivo online?

I just bought a Series 4 XL to replace one that failed. I got the lifetime service by purchasing from weaknees. Is it possible to associate this TiVo with my TiVo Online account? Mostly I want to drag & drop all my season passes from the dead TiVo onto the new one so I don't have to spend an hour setting them up again.

Also, what should I do with the dead unit? I don't remember which model it is; the model number on the back is TCD746320. I replaced the HDD with a new one from weaknees but it still stuck at the start-up screen. I can return the HDD for a refund. Should I just throw the tivo away or is it worth trying to have it repaired?

Regarding your XL, you can get this unit on your account. Connect it from your home so that TiVo will show that you own it. Then call TiVo and tell them you want to transfer it to your account.
