Hello. Looking for advice if anyone has any experience in this. I have a premiere XL that when powered up will show the "starting up" screen. After a minute or so, I'll see the yellow light begin to flash which I believe indicates the hd is being accessed. The flashing stops after about 5 secs, then the screen goes black. If I wait about a minute, the process repeats again, over and over. The only cabling hooked up are the ps and hdmi to rule out cable and net access. I so far have replaced the ps with a brand new WK one and I pulled a hard drive from another working XL in the hopes that if it was that I would get past the problem start up to at least be able to do a C&DE if I wanted to. Neither of these changes made a difference. I'm praying that it's not a toasted mobo and maybe somebody here knows a trick to try? Ive also tried to kickstart it. The lights appear to flash correctly to show the code was accepted but the above reboot just occurs over again. What does pulling the mobo battery do? Would that do any type of memory reset? Any advice on what may be happening or how to possibly get past this start up loop would be greatly appreciated.*

Premiere XL stuck in boot cycle

Thanx for the suggestions Mike! Oddly enough for me and I still don't understand how it could have been based on the fact that I was getting a pix with the hdmi cable but it did turn out to be a cable that the unit didn't like. After I swapped it out it finished the boot cycle. I'd still love to understand why it did that and why it would put the unit in a reboot cycle but I guess these things are way more sensitive and or just overly protective than I gave them credit for. Anyway it's up which I'm great full for as I was really hoping it wasn't a bad mobo. Ty again for the reply.

I hope it's appropriate for me to add my question to oagermann's thread from last year. For the last few days I have been getting exactly the same errors he described - the big difference being that my TiVo box is a Roamio Plus. I could certainly use some help tracking down what I should do.
On the chance it would help in my case I did try another HDMI cable. But the result was no different from before. It continues to restart the boot cycle over and over.
Mike's other suggestion was that it could be a faulty hard drive. How would I go about determining that this is the problem? And if it is, what do I do to fix it?
I would very much appreciate anyone's suggestions.
Thank you.

Rebooting over and over is most likely a bad hard drive - far more likely than a bad HDMI cable (mostly because drives to fail over time, and cables generally do not).
Try a new drive kit - it's returnable if it doesn't help (15% restocking fee; must be within 30 days):

Thanks for the information. I didn't know whether there were multiple options at the time – and, yes, I never replaced it. I'll be ordering a new drive when I get back from a trip we're taking the next couple of weeks. (No To-do list recordings in the meantime. {sigh})
Oh yes – Does anyone know? ... Am I likely to be able to recover recordings from the present drive? I have the last two seasons of Downton Abbey and several episodes of Big Bang, not to mention a bunch of other stuff I haven't gotten around to viewing yet. Oh well...
Many thanks

You aren't likely able to recover any recordings given the situation, sorry to say.
We had multiple sizes of Roamio Plus, so if you ordered from us you might have a larger drive (and we could look up your order and tell you). If you ordered elsewhere, it's a 1 TB drive.Been here a long time . . .
