We had thunderstorms and power outage yesterday afternoon. Few hours later, in the evening, we watched TiVo with no issues. But this morning, TiVO had no signs of life - No lights lit, no live TV, no nothing. I opened the unit and observed the following:
(1) When power cable is connected, there is squeaking sound from the power supply (kind of like a small mouse squeaking). The squeaking seems to come from around the induction coil just behind the power connector.
(2) The wires to the HDD get very hot, especially towards the HDD end. In fact, the outermost yellow cable is blackened as it terminates into the connector going on to the HDD. I can also smell something heating up but am not sure of the exact location of smell's origin.
Does this indicate a power supply problem? Any suggestion for additional troubleshooting?
